Book Shaming

There was a meme going around earlier in the year called “Pet Shaming.” A pet owner would take a picture of a shame-faced pet and a sign explaining the pet’s transgressions. So you might see a picture of a pup with the sign “I eat bunny poop!” or a tabby confessing, “I peed in my mom’s underwear drawer.” (More examples.)

They’re cute, but I was thinking them recently as I shook my fist at a book that angered me. Thus, book shaming was born! This is all in fun, so I kept away from any mean-spirited shaming, but I had fun scolding all the books that have given me heartache!

Alright all, let it fly. I promise it’s cathartic. Shame your books, people!

Hahaha these are so funny and cute! This is a GREAT idea! Are you planning to make this into a feature/series? That would fun to see every once in a while.

I actually hadn’t thought of it, but maybe. 🙂 You should do one!

I love this! I’ve actually thought of putting a certain book (that shall not be named) in the corner (saw it on Tumblr). But this is hilarious, and such a great idea!

      Haha, thanks!

Well, when you DO have time, it will rob you of your life. You will be wholly ensnared.

Gotta love the one for Mockingjay. xD

I have to disagree on Siege & Storm, though. Ruin & Rising was meaner, imo.

Not for me, but I can see your point. Shame it, Emma!

OH MY GOSH. I totally laughed out loud at the Mockingjay one because it’s definitely accurate. I remember finishing that at 5AM in the morning, tears streaming down my face and an unspeakable urge to just toss the book at a wall for hurting me so.

    Such a fun post, Shae!

Oh, man. This was hilarious. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. I loved this post so, so much. I especially loved at the last one! Like the guffawing kinda laugh. And you just introduced me to a new series that I would love to check out based on the “book shaming” it received 😉 (The Thief, in particular).

Oh my goodness this is perfection! I read the Queen’s Thief series 5 years ago and I’m still stuck in the obsession mode! About to read Monstrous Beauty too. Heist Society is accurate as well. That’s all I ever want to know at the end of the books lol.
I’ll have to do this sometime, it’s just too fun 🙂
