Out Of Control (In The Best Way)

My life is out of control. It’s all in a good way, I promise, but it’s still draining. My routines and my schedules keep me sane, but I haven’t had a solid day of normalcy in weeks now. In the last month, I’ve started a new job and moved from a sublet to a new apartment. (I’m still moving, really, since we haven’t bought everything we need yet.) Both of these things are FANTASTIC things that I’m so, so grateful for. However, that’s a lot of change, and change requires both time and energy.

I love blogging. I don’t think that will ever change. I love the zip I get from talking about books with people who love these stories just as much as I do. It’s a wonderful feeling. However, I’m tired. Working on posts over the last month has become more and more difficult, just because I don’t have the time, the energy, or the brain space to write the posts I want to write. I’m also trying to adjust my role as a blogger to accommodate my new role as an industry professional.

It’s time for a break. Rather than try to push through and grind out posts week after week, I’m going to take some time to figure out what my new normal is. Let me get comfortable in my new place. Let me feel like I’ve got a handle on this job thing. Let me devour some books until I’m so excited that I just HAVE to come back and share.

I promise not to leave you all in limbo forever. I AM coming back, no question about it. But I need to pause some of my obligations for a while. I’ll still be around on Twitter and Tumblr and Goodreads. I’ll still be more than eager to discuss whatever you’re reading. And I’m already looking forward to coming back with a new game plan and fresh outlook. But for now…

Ah, you definitely have a ton going on in your real life, Shae! Good luck with the new job and enjoy the new apartment, and see ya when you’re back to blogging (or at an upcoming book event)!

Thanks, love! (Once I get my apartment inhabitable, you’ll have to come over, too. 🙂 )

Wow, congrats on the new job and apartment! Being too busy and super tired can lead to burning out, which is never fun, so I hope you settle down nicely and start to relax a bit more 🙂

Best of luck getting settled in, physically and metaphorically 🙂 Now’s a good time to make big changes, you know, with The 100 and The Blacklist and iZombie all on hiatus 😀

Oh and your GIF 😀 I just started watching The Big Bang Theory and OMG, there’s another truly brilliant thing that fails the Bechdel Test 100% of the time. At least the first season (which I might have watched in 3 days.) I know later on they all get girlfriends, but I am really loving the geek-bro interactions. Why can’t I have neighbors like that??
